Synopsis
This history of railway signalling describes its development. The book illustrates and describes the signalling systems of the different railway companies, the effect of accidents and the standards set. It also includes: how block systems and automatic train control work; the development of signal boxes and panel boxes; illustrations of the signalling equipment used by Britain's railways; and illustrations of the different types of signal used in Great Britain and abroad.
