He went to Sandhurst in 1927 and arrived in India at the end of the following year. He is intelligent, inquisitive and impressively hardy; he has a year in Persia, living in Shiraz, learning Persian, and particularly are his accounts of 2 very challenging treks that he made in the High Himalayas.
