In her latest book, Angélique du Toit goes beyond the techniques and goals explored in most coaching texts to examine the process of coaching and the importance of sense-making for creating meaning and encouraging self-reflection. In doing this, the coaching experience emerges as a type of transformational learning, in which the individual is guided through a journey of discovery and revelation. Theories are drawn together in a fresh and original way which will cause readers to question how coaching should be defined and practised.
Dr Angélique du Toit is an academic practitioner and is involved in the delivery of academic programmes and publications related to coaching. She is also an Executive Coach supporting senior executives in their personal development in both the public and private sectors.

Dr Angélique du Toit is an academic practitioner whose career combines academia as well as experience as an international manager. Angélique has also been an international executive coach for 16 years, supporting the leadership capacity and development of executives in both public and private organisations. She is on the preferred suppliers list as an Executive Coach for a number of organisations in the private sector as well as the NHS register for the purpose of developing the leadership capabilities of the Executive Boards.
She has also been invited by the BBC as spokesperson in debates on coaching and is widely published in academic and non-academic literature and the author of a number of books. Angélique has also been a member of both the Executive as well as the Advisory Boards of the European and Mentoring Coaching Council (EMCC) for five years. She was also the Editor for the International Journal of Mentoring and Coaching published by the EMCC for three years and is on the Editorial Board of a number of International Journals. Her various roles have given her the opportunity to play a significant part in the emerging profession by influencing the setting of standards of coaching internationally.
Unlike other books about coaching, Making Sense of Coaching examines the process of coaching rather than its techniques and goals and addresses issues such as the problematic relationship between coach and coachee in business coaching when the explicit goal is to improve individual performance within an organisation.
