Jeffrey Benson joined the wine trade in 1971 and has regularly lectured and written on the subject. He is an independent wine merchant and has travelled extensively in wine-growing regions, particularly in Bordeaux. Alastair Mackenzie teaches English and Latin at St. Paul's school in London. He wrote his first article on wine in 1970 and passed the Wine and Spirit Education Trust's Diploma Examination, with honors, in 1974. He is a committee member of the Circle of Wine Writers.
