This is the first collection of poems by a Londoner who believes that poetry is `a voyage of self-discovery and amazement'. In shedding normal logic, John Digby's poetry investigates the realm of the marvellous and invents a new world for the reader. Nathaniel Tarn writes of these poems, `John Digby is a self-confessed surrealist: in England that alone is a prescription for solitude and courage. Patiently, year after year, Digby has acclimatized the language to a great and live tradition: a first book this long in the making is a triumph of vision. From the midst of a pyramid no longer very secure on its foundations, a lone eye shines out. It will float when the pyramid crumbles.'
