This book is based on the theory that the ancient monuments and sacred sites in Britain were originally founded on an esoteric pattern of "leys". It serves to guide the reader in their own investigation of this system of interconnecting, accurately positioned lines. The author, who conceived of this theory studied the relics of the "ley" system throughout Britain and wrote a paper which was published in a short book entitled "Early British Trackways". This was followed in 1925 by his major work, "The Old Trackways" and later by "Archaic Tracks Round Cambridge" and "The Ley Hunter's Manual".
