Roberto Assagioli is a huge figure in the world of psychoanalysis. In many ways his work has been as influential as that of Freud, Jung and Reich, with whom he was contemporary. The writings in this volume exemplify the ideas and theories he developed, which he termed psychosynthesis.
arguing that psychoanalysis was incomplete, Roberto Assagioli began to formulate psychosynthesis in 1910. Psychology, he said, must embrace the soul as well as the libido, the imagination as well as the complexes, the will as well as the instincts. But psychosynthesis is much more than a theory; it is also a practical method of personal development that can encompass many of the popular approaches to personal growth – such as meditation, visualization, imagework, and others.

About the Author
Roberto Assagioli was an Italian psychotherapist who developed his theory in the early 1900s, contemporary with Freud, Reich and Jung. Unlike them, he continued refining and developing it up until his death in 1974.
