Synopsis
Theodor Schwenk is the Director of an Institute located at Herrischried in the Black Forest for the study of movement in Water primarily, but also in association with its closely related element of Air. The hygiene of both water and air present many urgent problems today. Both are indispensable, life-giving and life-preserving elements, and both are suffering severely from every kind of pollution. Schwenk does not regard water as an indispensable raw material but as a living element-indeed the source of all life-whose essential nature has never yet been adequately recognised and can only be studied in a comprehensive survey of its behaviour in the full range of its activities. Schwenk presents the phenomena of water's life and action in a brilliant series of nearly a hundred full page photographs, but the reader will find the numerous sketches which illustrate the text equally enthralling. His book has rightly been called the first authentic treatise on the phenomena of Water and Air. The Preface by Commandant Cousteau testifies to the absorbing interest of Sensitive Chaos. This Third Impression has now become necessary to meet the ever widening interest and demand.
