Synopsis

Acoustic emission testing can be a very convenient way of checking a vessel for invisible structural faults; in certain cases it is not even necessary to take the vessel out of service to test it. However, for some applications this method is neither as easy nor as cost-effective as it may seem. This book sets out to help in deciding whether acoustic emission testing is the right method for a particular problem. This is a revision of the 1985 text.
