Synopsis
God Delivers - Isaiah - Welwyn Commentary Series by Derek Thomas and published by Evangelical Press. It is Isaiah's conviction that the church needs to remember the consequences of God's holy character and live accordingly if she is to experience blessing and revival. In a moving passage, God speaks of the Church as 'the people I formed for Myself that they may proclaim my praise (43:21). The church is meant to be filled with the praises of God. Peter takes up this verse and underlines it; we were meant to 'declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His wonderful life. (1 Peter 2:9 - 1-10). Therefore, as Isaiah teaches, it is not God's faithfulness, but ours, that is in question.

About the Author
Dr Derek Thomas holds a PhD in Calvin’s preaching on Job and is the Senior Minister at First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, South Carolina. He is also the Professor of Historic and Systematic Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary, Atlanta.
