At last - a book that explains the mysteries of Crystal Healing in a language that anyone can understand. Marianna Sheldrake has been healing with crystals for over twenty years. Now she shares her understanding and knowledge without the trappings of obscure terminology. Her fresh approach to this subject offers advice and instruction to the novice and practitioner alike. She takes the reader on a journey of exploration, from choosing a crystal to understanding its relationship with the universal energies. Along with its rich, full-colour illustrations, The Crystal Healer includes an indexed list of ailments - with their most appropriate crystal treatment - and an invaluable reference guide to the most widely used crystals, tools and configuration.

This is a comprehensive teaching handbook and reference guide, the main focus of which is healing using crystal tools and the chakras. The author's compulsive anecdotal style leads the reader through some surprisingly intensive information with ease. The fundamentals are covered in depth, providing an accessible introduction to crystal healing, but there is also a wealth of unique information personal to the author's wide experience and insight which means that the book has much to offer the expert.
Although readers are encouraged to work with and explore crystals in conjunction with the book, it would nevertheless benefit from further illustration. There is a reasonably thorough coverage of the healing properties of the author's favoured crystals, resins and metals despite some unexpected omissions, such as diamond and Alexandrite.
A compelling section on crystal wands and their use, as well as pyramids and other crystal tools, differentiates this book from more traditional ones that describe crystals alone and there is also an indispensable guide to crystals in order of ailment. The author's occasional forays into unproven scientific justification are a weak link in this otherwise authoritative and often entertaining guide, which is useful for both crystal healers and novices alike. --Claire Aloysia Ritson
