Synopsis

This book is unique in its coverage of a very wide range of topics and provides an up-to-date picture of research in this area. It supplements the information found in the previous volume published in 1986 and continues with the same high standards that it set. The book was written by international experts in the field and covers VLSI technology, semiconductor materials and processes, liquid crystals and other displays, newer methods for hardcopy output, adhesives, ceramics, superconductors, rare earths, and more...

Review

"This is an excellent volume which can be firmly recommended to present workers in the field wishing to broaden their knowledge of it, newcomers to it, or to anyone with an interest in the future of non-mainstream chemistry." * Chemistry and Industry, 1991 *

Synopsis

This volume contains the proceedings of a symposium which reviewed the current state of fine chemicals in the electronics industry and predicted future advances and market demands in the field. Contributors discuss established materials and processes, such as silicon and other semiconductor materials, as well as newer methods such as adhesives, hard copy output, optical data storage materials and the rare earths. Papers are included on nonlinear optical and electro-optical materials, reflecting growing interest in this area, in particular for polymers and organic compounds. The final chapter summarizes the topical and speculative field of molecular electronic materials.
