Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. This was the first detailed research to have been done on television coverage of the riots of the summer of 1981. The author talked to film crews, journalists, television executives, police and the rioters themselves and pieced together a picture of what he called 'Coronation Street of violence'. A major conclusion of his work is that there is no convincing evidence to support claims that television produced a 'copy-cat' effect in which people were incited to further acts of violence by watching pictures of the riots. / This is a 1st edition paperback/card-cover in near to fine condition-very slightly faded.
