Synopsis
In the 1990s the United Nations enjoyed a revival of prestige, particularly within the United States. At the same time, the role of the UN and the nature of its achievements are changing dramatically. Internationalists note that the world's nations are becoming increasingly interdependent and are relying more and more on international organizations for economic and social services. Political interdependency may follow, which will increase the activities and increase the activities and influence of international organizations such as the UN. Focusing on the importance of the United Nations and international law for war and peace, this title includes an assessment of the Security Council's actions to end or contain conflicts, and an evaluation of the network of nuclear arms control agreements.
