Synopsis
′The ACS Style Guide′ contains all of the information covered by its predecessor, the Handbook for Authors, and more. Intended to instruct contributors to American Chemical Society publications in ′the way we do it at ACS′, the ACS Style Guide also now stresses desirable principles and practices applicable throughout the scientific literature. Its purpose is to provide a handy reference for authors and editors on all aspects of preparing a scientific paper.
The ACS Style Guide includes editorial style and usage conventions for the text as well as information on when to use and how to prepare illustrations, chemical structures, and tables. It also presents ancillary material such as copyright basics and information on the scientific literature, electronic mansucript submission, and oral presentations. Highly organized, the text is designed for easy access and quick comprehension.
A unique aspect of The ACS Style Guide is the information it contains, not treated elsewhere, on editorial conventions for chemical names, formulas, and reaction schemes. Two ACS–specific appendixes describe ACS publications and give the ethical guidelines.
