About the Author

Richard C. McCarthy, AIA, is an architect, principal with Burnidge Cassell Associates, where he serves as project manager and library team leader. He has built, remodeled, and renovated numerous libraries in northern Illinois, including public libraries in Wheaton, LaGrange, Flossmoor, and Mokena.
