Draws from mystical traditions, quantum physics, astrology, and Jungian psychology to examine the forgotten language of symbols

What I set out to achieve with this book:
THE WAKING DREAM is an exploration of the larger worldview implied by "synchronicity," and its broader message in our lives. Presented is a comprehensive survey of traditional views toward coincidence and symbolism throughout history, the teachings of "sacred science," the role of destiny and divination in everyday experience, and the implications of synchronicity for modern science. Ultimately, I suggest that the deeper investigation of "meaningful coincidence" reveals nothing less than a world suffused with synchronicity, with correspondences and archetypal resonance of many types. In the words of William Irwin Thompson, we are indeed like flies crawling across the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, unaware of the cosmic drama unfolding before our eyes. Synchronicity is thus a door into a completely different understanding of both ourselves and the universe we inhabit.
