Synopsis

This revised and expanded edition contains five sections, which describe and index over 20,000 software packages for microcomputers. Section one comprises a title index under which products are listed alphabetically. For each entry, full title, version, operating system(s) and more are given. Also included are descriptive annotations. The second section lists the 4,000-plus software publishers whose products appear, together with contact information and a listing of their title(s). Section three, entitled "guide to systems" covers AppleMacs to Xerox systems and section four, called "guide to applications", covers applications ranging from accounting to transportation. Both of these link in with the final section, "system compatibility/applications index. Here the titles are listed by system and then by program type, enabling the user to establish the availability of, say, all mapping programs available for IBM or compatible systems. The book should be useful to academic central and public reference libraries, computer departments in industry, and the professions.
