...a comprehensive and readable primer on managed care.
When I was deep into writing Managed Care: What It Is and How It Works-- after several long, Vermont, winter nights-- I affectionately renamed the book Managed Care: Who Gives A #%*&! While this provided me with some temporary, albeit juvenile, comic relief, I knew that there were many people who might benefit from such a basic primer on managed care. The purpose of the book is to give readers interested in managed care a thorough overview of the concepts, purposes, and operations of managed care without overwhelming them. These readers include students in undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as professionals in all facets of the health care industry. I hope I have succeeded in delivering an informative and interesting book on an issue in the forefront of today's health care system. I welcome comments and suggestions from readers.
