A concise practical summary of graphics file formats
Our goal was to describe formats that people use in a moderately priced book, and I think we've done that fairly well. I'll put our description of JPEG up against anyone's, for example, and we cover graphics embedded in printer formats like PCL, Postscript, and HP-GL which other books overlook.
Incidentally, there's no CD with this book because you can get better code than what you can put on a CD from the net for free. A CD just adds $5 to the price with little benefit.
If you're interested in programming examples, see my ``Programming for Graphics Files in C and C++'' which is entirely devoted to that topic.
A guide to the most commonly used graphics file formats with descriptions, high-level overviews and practical background on some 20 bitmap and vector file formats. Annotation copyright Book News, Inc. Portland, Or.
