About the Author

Julius Rowan Raper is Professor of English at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the author of numerous books, most recently, Narcissus from Rubble: Competing Models of Character in Contemporary British and American Fiction. Melody L. Enscore currently manages technical comunication systems for a private-sector environmental chemistry firm in North Carolina. Paige Matthey Bynum is Lecturer at Duke Institute for Learning and Retirement in Durham, North Carolina.
