Amelio A. D'Onofrio (PhD), is clinical professor and director of the Psychological Services Institute in the Graduate School of Education at Fordham University. He holds degrees from Georgetown University (BS, 1985), The University of Chicago (MA, 1987), and Fordham University (PhD, 1995). Since 1994, he has served on the faculty of the Graduate School of Education at Fordham, where he teaches and provides clinical supervision to students in the doctoral program in counseling psychology. His teaching and clinical interests include developmental psychopathology, interpersonal and existential approaches to psychotherapy, the neuropsychobiology of affect regulation, and clinical supervision. Dr. D'Onofrio is also a consulting psychologist at Loyola School, a private Jesuit high school in New York City, where he provides direct services to students and advises faculty, administrators, and parents on adolescent development and on matters affecting student life.His professional experience includes serving in a number of leadership capacities for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Centers in the New York metropolitan area as well as serving on national committees responsible for developing VA-wide treatment protocols and establishing best practices in clinical services. He was chief of domiciliary care (psychosocial rehabilitation) for homless veterans at the New York Harbor VA Health Care System and managed the clinical education and leadership development programs at the Hudson Valley VA Health Care System. Dr. D'Onofrio lectures widely to mental health professionals on a variety of topics in psychopathology, human development, and psychotherapy process issues.
