Provocative fiction that reads like a biography, highlighting the humanity of Jesus through a compelling interview format. It's like meeting Jesus again for the first time. In the format of a twenty-first century interview, the author asks Jesus the kinds of questions most of us have wondered: Why do you think God chose Mary to be your mother? When did you realize that you were the Messiah? If you were fully God and omniscient, how could you have been a man? Why did you pick Judas? Jesus' answers are poignant, personal, and relevant, providing insight into the personality and humanity of the most important man who ever lived.

Review:
"Imagine that you were given the opportunity to interview Jesus, the more remarkable human being of all time. What would you ask? What would He say? Imagine that this Man has agreed to talk about how He came to this unique position in history, how He came to realize for Himself who He really was, and what His thirty-three years on this earth were like." iThis book charms us with mind and faith stretching ideas. . . . We wonit use it as a basis for a new theology, but the one we already have will be enriched, challenged, and deepened. -- Jay Kesler "President emeritus of Taylor University" (06/03/2004) iNext to the Bible, itis the most important book Iive ever read, for it unveils the heart of the most extraordinary man who ever lived far better than 50 years of sermons Iive heard. -- Mike McManus "Syndicated religion and ethics columnist" (06/03/2004) . . . a thought-provoking and imaginative exploration of the humanity of Jesus. His possible feelings, experiences, sources of strength and motivation throughout His life on earth, in the form of an informal interview with the author. . . . Both fascinating and moving, this quite plausible einterviewi will certainly open up new areas of the incarnation of Someone who was and is both fully God and fully man to you. -- J.R. (11/01/2004)
From the Back Cover:

“Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered. . . .” Hebrews 5:8 (NIV)

Christians across the centuries have agreed upon three basic truths: Jesus was fully God, he was fully human, and he was one person. But if Jesus was fully human (and he was), how did he experience that humanity? How did he learn  (and as a human he had to learn) that he was the Messiah? What experiences did he have as a child and as a young man? Did he ever doubt? How did he experience shame, guilt, temptation, anger, and love? How could he endure the cross?

These questions and many others are answered in this provocative but plausible “interview” with Jesus. Using clues provided by Old Testament messianic prophecies and the New Testament Gospels, Hodges presents an emotionally powerful and theologically orthodox re-creation of Jesus’ life from birth to resurrection.

“Dr. Hodges has employed a sanctified imagination, rooted in the Gospels, to create a profile of the Word-made-flesh that is wholly reasonable, wholly honoring to the precious doctrine of the Incarnation.”

—D. Bruce Lockerbie, Chairman, PAIDEIA, Inc.

“[Hodges] has sought to combine the insights he has gained from in-depth study of human psychology with a speculative portrait of the human nature of the earthly Jesus. . . . His efforts in this volume are fascinating and profoundly interesting.”

—R. C. Sproul, President, Ligonier Ministries

“A helpful new and fresh look at the incarnation and at some very ancient questions. We won’t use this book as a basis for a new theology, but the one we already have will be enriched, challenged, and deepened.”

—Jay Kesler, Chancellor, Taylor University

Andrew G. Hodges, M.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist in Birmingham, Ala., and has been in private practice for twenty-five years. Previously he was an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and has been a consultant to the FBI.
