Synopsis
This book is suitable for readers aged 4 to 8 years. Rosa Parks didn't intend to change the world when she refused to give up her seat on a city bus in Montgomery, Alabama. But that's exactly what she did. Known as the "mother of the modern-day civil rights movement", Parks changed history that day she kept her seat. But Rosa was also: a girl who enjoyed playing with her younger brother; a student who studied cooking, sewing, and the Bible; a caregiver to her grandmother when she became ill; a seamstress who made shirts; an activist who helped the black people of Montgomery when they were in trouble. Rich illustrations by artist Steven Walker capture the life and time of one of America's greatest historic figures. Here is a delightful way to Meet Rosa Parks.
