Synopsis
Paste paper designs have been used for centuries to decorate book covers and endpapers. The basic paste paper technique involves dampening a sheet of paper, coating it with coloured paste, and then drawing various implements through the paste to create deceptively sophisticated designs. In this volume, a paper artist demonstrates, step by step, how to create patterned papers, from preparing the papers and applying the paste to producing combed, textured, stamped, and even hand-drawn designs. There are instructions on using paste papers to make scrapbooks, greeting cards, picture mats, boxes and other projects. There is also a look at the work of an international roster of paste paper designers.

About the Author
Diane Maurer-Mathison is internationally recognised as an expert in the art of decorating paper. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. The author of Art of the Scrapbook, as well as several books on paper arts and crafting, she lives in Spring Mills, Pennsylvania.
