Synopsis
Following a brief review of basic terminology, this text for graphic designers concentrates on the decisions affecting type colour and texture and demonstrates how to get the best results. The aim of the text is to systematically train the reader's eye by comparing what happens to the same piece of text when it is set in a different face or with slight variations in line spacing. The text also examines different ragged settings and explores the effects of altering typeface characters.
