Synopsis
Susan Sargent's woven rugs, pillows, pottery and bedding are known for their bright, yet elegant, colours and patterns. She has licensed her brand name for upholstery, bed linens, furniture, window treatments, and ceramics. Sargent's products can be found in her flagship store in Manchester, Vermont, as well as in her new flagship store on Boston's Newbury Street. Her fabrics are available at over 8000 design centres, including Home Depot Expo and Jo-Ann Fabrics. Susan Sargent's The Comfort of Colour presents colour makeovers of nine home environments, from a young couple's starter home to new retirees who are downsizing from a house to an apartment. In each makeover, Sargent emphasizes finding a style that suits and reflects the owners' personalities. The hands-on presentation of the projects is inspirational and informative, illustrating how colour can completely transform the atmosphere of a home in conjunction with the owner's family treasures, antiques and personal collections, as well as how colour can influence people's emotions. Sidebars teach readers such tips as how to resist formulaic approaches, chromophobia versus chromophilia, and the power of colours on neutral backgrounds.

About the Author
Susan Sargent is an artisan and colour advocate who has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Country Living and Better Homes and Gardens. She divides her time between her Vermont design studio and her home furnishings stores and creates collections of textiles, furniture and accessories.
