Celebrating Time's 75th anniversary, this book presents 75 works of art commissioned for the magazine's covers by some of America's best-known artists, from Andrew Wyeth's portrait of Dwight Eisenhower to Andy Warhol's Michael Jackson.
Among the outstanding covers featured are Roy Lichtenstein's dynamic1968 image of Bobby Kennedy, Ben Shahn's Martin Luther King, Jesse Jackson and General de Gaulle as well as our own Gerald Scarfe's papier-mache caricatures of The Beatles. Frederick Voss recounts in well-illustrated detail the history of TIME covers, providing a virtual history of the magazine and explaining why appearing on the cover of TIME has come to be the ultimate accolade.
