Rei R. Noguchi, Emeritus Professor of English and Linguistics at California State University, Northridge, has taught courses in linguistics to practicing and prospective teachers for over twenty-five years in the Interdisciplinary Linguistics Program (now the Linguistics/TESL Department). He received a PhD in English with a specialization in English Language from Indiana University, Bloomington. He is the author of Grammar and the Teaching of Writing: Limits and Possibilities (NCTE, 1991). He has published articles in such journals as International Review of Applied Linguistics, Studies in Philology, Language and Style, Journal of Literary Semantics, Lingua e Stile, Journal of Beckett Studies, and the Journal of Basic Writing. Besides reading and writing about language, his interests include learning about different cultures and following various sports, particularly baseball.
