The Last Inauguration

From the Author

A classic spy novel, intentionally not written to formula.
The story line is Saddam Hussein hiring the real life terrorist, Carlos the Jackal, to kill the President of the United States and other top U.S. leaders, paving the way for Saddam to wage a final all out war on Israel. Having read novels from this genre my whole life, I set out to do something different with The Last Inauguration. First, the book strongly features the protagonist villian, Carlos the Jackal, and you will get to know him as he is in real life. While I do not support his past activities, you will end up with a strange degree of respect for Carlos, much as almost all readers have done with the Corleone family in The Godfather. Incidentally, Carlos has agreed to provide me an in depth interview, which is being covered by the Hearst Newspapers; his first ever. As for my book, he wrote me from his French prison, " I have read The Last Inauguration and I must admit that although I am depicted as a rogue mercenary mass murderer and have seen myself in the most unseemly situations, some of which could have happened in real life." The second different aspect to my novel is that my hero is flawed, not the perfect type man that never makes mistakes as is featured in so many spy novels. My hero, Norman Richards, is a wise cracking, ex-CIA agent working in the Mid East as an arms dealer, who unwillingly gets dragged back into service to stop what is effectively an unknown plot. I have been told Richards reminds some readers of the Bruce Willis/John McLain character in the Die Hard series. You'll definetely like him. Finally, as should be the case, the novel was intricately researched, with four personal visits made to Geneva, as well as Washington and other locales across the globe. While I provide you with a fair amount of detail, as many readers enjoy in this genre, I was careful not to overdo it, so that the action moves swiftly from beginning to end. All total, the book is a fun and exciting read, and when you finish, you will think, "it could hap! pen."
