Harvey Dinnerstein is a Brooklyn-based painter of the representational school whose work ranges from the personal to the allegorical and captures the beauty of landscape and architecture, the inevitability of mortality and loss, and the universal sorrows and joys of daily urban life. A true master of his craft, Dinnerstein creates hauntingly penetrating portraits and conveys a vision of urban, and uniquely American, pluralism influenced by cosmopolitan New York and by his time in Alabama during the Civil Rights movement. This fine art monograph is the first career-spanning retrospective of his work in numerous media, and it accompanies a major exhibition to travel in 2008 and beyond.
