Condition: Very Good. 316 pages. Hardcover with no dust jacket. Dark blue leather bound with gilt titles to front cover & spine. Embossed decoration on front cover. Gilt text block edges, red ribbon marker. Clean, tight copy. Fremantle paints a reasonable picture of the conditions and loyalties in both Southern and Northern territories. His ability to interview so many of the major Southern commanders, with little issue, indicates how lax security was in the Civil War period.
