Synopsis

The Life Library of Photography consists of 17 separate volumes. The series explores all the major aspects of photography including the history of photography and its aesthetics as an art form. Presented in a style that facilitates the reader dipping in and out of the various volumes and the sections within each volume, allows you to take from it what you need and skip anything you don't. First published in 1971, the series provides a comprehensive overview of many aspects of photography. Only titles specific to equipment (i.e. 'The Camera' 'Light and Film' 'The Print') may be out of date, though not completely so since the same principles still apply (shutter speed, depth of field, etc) making this an ideal series for any would-be serious photographer, even today. Despite the huge advances made in digital technology, photography techniques have not changed. There have been great leaps forward in film & post-processing is very different today, but the information and advice within these pages - relating to all the things you need to understand and use when creating an image i.e. shutter, aperture, light, exposure, lens, composition - is as relevant and valuable now as it was when this series was first published.
