Originally published in 1909, this biography by Isabel Wallace recounts the life of her adoptive father, William Hervy Lamme Wallace, the highest-ranking Union officer to fall at the battle of Shiloh. It is based on the letters and family papers of the General and his wife.

Isabel Wallace was only four years old when her father fell at Shiloh. She lived at The Oaks, the family home in Ottawa, Illinois, until her death in 1933.
