About the Author

Born Frieda von Richthofen, married to an Englishman who became a professor at Nottingham University, she met Law­rence in 1912, and was divorced from her first husband and married to Lawrence shortly before World War I. Lawrence died in Southern France in 1930. Frieda Lawrence died in Taos, New Mexico, in 1956, on her seventy-seventh birthday.
