About the Author
Raymond D. Strother is president of the firm Strother, Duffy, Strother and lives in Washington, D.C., and Montana. He is a former president of the American Association of Political Consultants, a former fellow at the John F. Kennedy Institute of Politics at Harvard University, a member of the Louisiana State University Journalism Hall of Fame, the recipient of a 2001 Pollie Award for Best Political Television, and the author of the political novel Cottonwood.

Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs. From Wikipedia: "Raymond D. Strother (born October 18, 1940) is a nationally known Democratic political consultant. While in Baton Rouge to complete his Master of Arts degree in journalism, Strother was a night reporter for the Associated Press. His 1965 thesis at LSU correctly predicted that in the future the outcome of political campaigns would depend more on media coverage and advertising than on traditional political organization. Strother became a consultant to U.S. Senators Lloyd Bentsen of Texas, Russell B. Long, John Breaux and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, John Stennis of Mississippi, Dennis DeConcini of Arizona, Gary Hart of Colorado, Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, Al Gore of Tennessee, and others. In 1984 and 1988, he supervised the media campaign for Gary Hart's presidential bids. His autobiography is entitled Falling Up, How a Redneck Helped Invent Political Consulting."
