Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Second printing, 1981. An association copy, inscribed on the front free endpaper: "April 1, 1986, Best wishes to John M. Morehead, sincerely, Alfred Runte, Yosemite National Park, California." Uncommon signed. John "Jack" Morehead was the chief ranger and then superintendent of Yosemite National Park, and later became the Assistant Director for Operations for the Department of the Interior (see this nice resolution singing his praises). Runte is a prominent environmental historian and was an advisor to Ken Burns on his National Parks documentary.
