Synopsis
This work is designed to teach student radiographers positioning and special procedures. For each procedure, a description of the photograph is accompanied by a photograph, the X-ray result, a line drawing of the anatomy shown in the X-ray, and evaluation criteria. All the basic or routine projects and/or positions for all body parts and systems are described, as well as some of the more common optional projections and/or procedures. This third edition features coverage of evaluation criteria, positioning accuracy, location of film markers and patient ID information on film, image quality factors in dentistry, contrast and definition, distortion, and correct use of the anodeheel effect; details radiation protection in a new section, including radiographer and patient protection, correct filtration, collimation, gonadal shielding, protection for pregnancies; includes an updated mammography section and a new chapter on paediatric radiography; and features additions to special procedures, including tomograms, upper and lower angiograms and venograms, myelograms, and arthrograms of knee and shoulder.
