Each letter in this volume, given in its entirety, unveils important aspects of Luther's complex personality. Historical introductions explain clearly the political and religious background of each letter.

About the Author
Gottfried G. Krodel, Th.D., the editor and chief translator of this volume, is Professor of History, holding the Martin Luther Chair in Reformation History at Valparaison University, Indiana. He received his doctorate from the University of Erlangen, Germany.
