Synopsis

Is stereotyping wrong – or is it a normal part of being human? Why does it stubbornly persist despite our best efforts to discourage it?
Challenging the dominant narrative, former journalist Robert Gentle argues that stereotyping isn’t a problem to be solved but a reality to be understood. It is an entirely natural cognitive function hardwired into us, and without which we could not make sense of the world.
In every waking moment, we judge each other according to how we look, how we speak, how we behave and countless other factors. These include the clothes we wear, the work we do and even the car we drive.
Packed with interesting insights and anecdotes, this accessible read brings a fresh way of thinking to a much-misunderstood phenomenon. You’ll never look at yourself – or others – in quite the same way again!
