Synopsis

Although considerable progress has been made in improving environmental quality in parts of the United States, many localities have yet to meet federal air and water quality standards and many hazardous-waste sites remain to be cleaned up. At the international level, the U.S. and other countries continue to face critical environmental problems. About the Authors

Sheldon Kamieniecki is Vice Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Southern California. He is the author of Public Representation in Environmental Policymaking, the co-author of Environmental Regulation through Strategic Planning, and the co-editor of Controversies in Environmental Policy.

George A. Gonzalez is Professor of Political Science at the University of Miami and the author of many books, including Energy and Empire: The Politics of Nuclear and Solar Power in the United States and Energy and the Politics of the North Atlantic, both also published by SUNY Press.
