Now you can create your own PC-based digital design workstation!
As an electronics hobbyist and PC owner, you probably own a digital
multimeter and a logic probe. These inexpensive test and measurement
instruments provide enough test "muscle" for many tasks, but just
don't have enough capability for serious work in the world of digital
electronics. What you really need are a logic analyzer and a
multipath continuity tester--key tools for troubleshooting digital
circuits and testing your printer, fax, modem, and other
multiconductor cables.
Using commonly available components and standard construction
techniques, PC Hardware Projects, Volume 1 will guide you through
the construction of an 8-In/8-Out channel logic analyzer (8/8CLA)
and a 25-line multipath continuity tester (MCT25). Once you're
done, you'll be able to put them to immediate use with the full-
featured software included with the book. You will also be able
to combine the 8/8CLA, the MCT25, an appropriate power supply, and a
prototyping solderless breadboard system into a single digital
workstation interface.
PC Hardware Projects, Volume 1 guides you through every step of
the construction process, and shows you how to check your progress.
So, get out your soldering iron and follow PC Hardware Projects,
Volume 1 to build two neat accessories for your PC!

I'm not only the Author, I'm a User!
You might remember the popular commercial for a hair-replacement business where it was said, "I'm not only the President, I'm a customer". In a somewhat similar fashion, I'd like to let you know that I'm not only the author, I'm a user. The pictures you see on the cover and inside the book are those of the system I use on my workbench. I especially enjoy using the Multiconductor Cable Tester and watching it check a DB-25 cable in a second or two. What most pleases me is hearing from readers of my books or articles. I especially enjoy hearing from the younger readers who are new to the electronic hobbyist "club". Whether you're 17 or 71, I think you'll enjoy this book. And you'll build a neat workstation in the process!
