As the Internet evolves, the Web desktop (or "Webtop") begins to look more and more like a Microsoft Windows application. Why? Programmers have found over the past few years that the more seamless the switch from desktop to Webtop the easier it is for customers to use Web applications. With the release of Internet Explorer 5.0, Microsoft introduced a new technology-Web user interface design behaviors such as folder trees, context menus, color pickers, and style creators-giving programmers the ability to bridge the desktop/Webtop gap. In the next few years the trend toward the Webtop will become more obvious as Microsoft migrates its Office applications to an online environment-leaving applications to run on a Web server instead of on a computer's hard drive. Each of the twelve behaviors in the book is fully documented with properties, methods, collections, events, objects, and an XSLT style sheet. The CD-ROM, an $1800 value, contains shareware versions of each behavior.
