The ANSI/ISO C++ Professional Programmer's Handbook is targeted at intermediate to advanced level C++ programmers who wish to broaden their skills and expertise. Since most C++ programmers presently have at least some basic knowledge of the language (many of them also have prior experience in C), I have attempted to focus on the core issues, while avoiding explaining the obvious. Thus, I do not discuss the fundamental data types, nor do I explain what variables, pointers, structs, and functions are. Instead, the emphasis is on topics that intermediate- to advanced-level programmers will find useful. The intent is to give you a concise, clear, and advice-laden account of the various features of the language as specified in the current ANSI/ISO Standard. Many of the discussions in the book dig deep into the underlying mechanisms of C++.
