From the Author

It¿s easy to do the same thing; I¿ve never liked easy.
While my first novel, "Fatal Gift," enjoyed even greater success than I’d dreamed of all those hungry years while fanaticizing about being a "published" writer, I didn’t want to follow it with a book that felt like a sequel, or even a similar story. I know that many writers stick with familiar stories throughout their long (and often prosperous) careers, and that’s okay for them, but I’m not that kind of writer. I have too many stories floating around inside my head, and they will only be similar in that I will be the consistent entity that releases them to a life on paper. If readers of my first book are expecting a story much like it, they will be surprised. I don’t say "disappointed" because I feel "The Last Goodbye" is equal to, and in many respects, better than "Fatal Gift," but, like children, it is completely different, not only in its setting and character, but also in its spirit. I believe that those who read "The Last Goodbye" will still find a consistent style within its words, and for me, that is important, but I also believe that they will find it equally enjoyable to "Fatal Gift" while satisfying that part of them that secretly wants a familiar writer to tread on unfamiliar ground, providing the unexpected, offering something serendipitous. For me, "The Last Goodbye" does that, and in that respect, if for no other, it is already a success.
