Rob MacKillop is a performer, recording artist, record producer, composer and writer specializing in Scottish historical and contemporary music. He was recently awarded the prestigious Churchill Fellowship which allowed him to study Sufi oud music in Turkey and Morocco. He has recorded 6 CDs of historical Scottish music, three of which reached the Number One position in the Scottish Classical Music Chart (The Scotsman). After recording much of the historical Scottish lute and guitar music MacKillop is now performing new pieces written expecially for him by the major Scottish contemporary composers. He is Lecturer in Lute Studies and Performance at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Historical Musician in Residence at Madras College, and teaches privately in his home studio. MacKillop has also lectured on the Scottish lute and guitar at international seminars in Portugal and Germany, and as a performer has toured Japan and various European countries.
