Pansy (aka. Isabella M. Alden) was an American author born in 1841. Alden wrote for adults as well as for children. She also wrote Christian literature and edited several magazines including Pansy for children. At the turn of the century, years after the death of his beloved Christian sister,Ester, Alfred Ried bemoans his inability to carry on her charitable work, especially with a group of unruly poor boys. Help comes in the form of his boss's young wife, Flossy Roberts. Despite Alfred's grave doubts, the results are astounding.
