Review

Deighton has a desire, unobtrusive but inflexible, to see the truth. He has an exceptionally just mind. In this account, which says a great deal in a short space, there is an account of Hitler, detached, unfussy, clear-eyed, as good as anything of the kind that I have read. Blitzkrieg is full of insights, quietly expressed but as a rule uncomfortably true. (C. P. Snow Financial Times)

What Mr Deighton did for the Battle of Britain in Fighter he has done for the land-war here... a rattling good yarn helped by outstandingly useful illustrations. (James Cameron Guardian)

Len Deighton's Blitzkrieg has a freshness that makes it welcome. Deighton has keenly wanted to find out and explain the matter for himself, and has then retained the flavour of discovery for his audience. It is an attractive technique with a genuine ring. (Tony Haworth Times Educational Supplement)

Contains some gems of research and some arresting conclusions, supported by maps and drawings of very high quality. (John Keegan New Statesman)

Brilliant analysis... provides a detailed account fuller than any previously written. (A. J. P. Taylor)
