This book contains papers submitted for presentation at the Fourth Annual Conference on Computing in Civil Engineering. General topics include computer graphs, computer aided design, computer languages, knowledge based expert systems, legal aspects, managing computer resources, networking, and selecting a computer system. Computer applications in specific disciplines are also covered. These include computer use in hydraulics and hydrology, stormwater and water quality modelling, computerized design and analysis of geotechnical projects and computerized geotechnical data acquisition. The use of computers in construction, surveying and mapping, and traffic and transportation engineering is also reviewed. Several papers address computers in civil engineering education.
