Each chapter begins with an introduction discussing the literature of a topic such as design theory, followed by a selective, annotated bibliography of resources. Comprehensive and needed, this source covers the areas of reference (including codes and standards), as well as design theory/philosophy and history; programming and planning; furniture, finishes, and textiles; building and interior systems; project types; visual communication methods; business and professional practice; competitions and scholarships; magazines and publishers; trade associations, governmental agencies and research centers; and conferences. The items are flagged with two codes: "NCIDQ," indicating a title recommended by the National Council of Interior Design Qualification for studying for the licensing exams and "*," noting titles of exceptionally high quality. There is an index of names, organizations, and subjects.
