Each chapter begins with an introduction discussing the literature of a topic such as design theory, followed by a selective, annotated bibliography of resources. Comprehensive and needed, this source covers the areas of reference (including codes and standards), as well as design theory/philosophy and history; programming and planning; furniture, finishes, and textiles; building and interior systems; project types; visual communication methods; business and professional practice; competitions and scholarships; magazines and publishers; trade associations, governmental agencies and research centers; and conferences. The items are flagged with two codes: "NCIDQ," indicating a title recommended by the National Council of Interior Design Qualification for studying for the licensing exams and "*," noting titles of exceptionally high quality. There is an index of names, organizations, and subjects. The goal of this series is to provide bibliographies compiled by working professionals familiar with the information needs of design professionals.
